Centrally located in Los Angeles' Civic core, the Los Angeles Police Department Police Administration Building is a landmark building and great civic space. The site plan has two faces that provide public outdoor space. The first along the southern exposure is a one-acre community park which provides outdoor space to the growing Downtown residential community.

The space is organized around a rectangular Great Lawn, incorporating a range of seating elements, a series of grade changing terraces, game tables, and a large café space. The second along the northern exposure is a civic plaza area - a democratic space for gatherings, protests and celebrations.

This plaza is articulated with cascading steps, internally illuminated stone seat walls and a simple linear water element that discretely provides a layer of necessary perimeter security. The project is LEED Gold Certified.
