POP-UP PUBLIC HEALTH FAIR – A TOOLKIT FOR MACARTHUR PARK

December 21, 2015

Check out the final project of one of the newest additions to the Meléndrez team, Alex Jung, who recently graduated from UCLA with a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning.  The project is a digital how-to manual on how to host a ‘pop-up’ public health event.

Alex and a team of UCLA students and community leaders joined forces to host a ‘pop-up’ public health event in Westlake, which in turn served as the blueprint for the manual. The festival called ¡Fiesta Salud! took place in MacArthur Park, involving a bunch of fun health-related activities such as soccer and Zumba.  Westlake faces some of the most serious public health issues within the City. The festival informed residents about public health resources within their community and encouraged healthier, active lifestyles.
